What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools in other services. MagicWP runs an MCP server, so an assistant you already use can work with your MagicWP sites.
Which AI assistants work with MagicWP MCP?
Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, ChatGPT and Claude Code sign in with your MagicWP account. Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI and any other client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP use an API token. The docs have setup steps for each.
Does it work in ChatGPT or Claude on the web?
Yes. Add https://mcp.magicwp.io/mcp as a custom connector, sign in to MagicWP, pick the workspace and full or read-only access, and approve. There is no token to copy. In ChatGPT, custom connectors need developer mode.
Which plans include MCP?
MCP is included with paid MagicWP plans, at no extra cost. Your AI assistant's own subscription is separate.
Do I need to install anything?
No. MagicWP hosts the MCP server. In Claude and ChatGPT you add its address and sign in; in Claude Code you can install the MagicWP plugin. Other clients take the address and an API token.
Can the assistant delete my sites by mistake?
Destructive actions need the site's domain, typed by you, and your client asks for approval before running them. With read-only access the assistant can't change anything at all.
What does MagicWP see of my conversations?
Only the tool calls your assistant makes, such as which site to back up. Your conversation stays with your AI provider. The MCP server doesn't store your token or the app's key.
Can it edit my posts and pages?
No. MagicWP MCP manages hosting and WordPress administration: sites, backups, updates, plugins, settings, users, domains, redirects, Cloudflare and email settings. It doesn't edit your content.
